Russian interceptors hold air defense drill over Pacific Ocean

MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - Russian MiG-31BM multirole marine interceptors have trained off Kamchatka over the Pacific Ocean, the Pacific Fleet's press service said on Wednesday.

"The primary objective of the flights was for MiG-31BM crews to master skills for air defense missions within the Pacific Fleet's zone of responsibility," it said.

The planes also facilitated the training of ground-based navigation stations and the coastal air defense systems of the Pacific Fleet, it said.

The training was conducted during scheduled flights, the press service.
