Military court in Moscow sentences Russian citizen planning to join Right Sector to 10 years in prison

MOSCOW. June 28 (Interfax) - The 2nd Western Military District Court has found Russian citizen Yaroslav Vladyko guilty of high treason and preparations for joining a banned organization and sentenced him to 10 years in a high-security penitentiary, the court's press service told Interfax.

"In line with the court sentence of June 27, 2023, Vladyko has been sentenced to 10 years in a high-security penitentiary, a fine of 100,000 rubles, and freedom restriction for one year and six months," the court said.

Vladyko was found guilty of high treason and preparing to participate in activities of a banned extremist organization.

The court also prohibited Vladyko from administering Internet resources for three years.

Vladyko was tried behind closed doors, as the case filings have been classified.

Interfax has learned from a source with security services that Vladyko was born in Ukraine but has Russian citizenship. The investigation found out that he intended to join the radical Ukrainian organization Right Sector, designated as an extremist organization and banned in Russia.

Interfax could not immediately obtain official comments on the situation from investigative agencies.
