NIZHNY NOVGOROD. June 28 (Interfax) - A resident of Russia's Penza region has become a defendant in a criminal case of treason, the regional branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Wednesday.
In January 2023, the defendant, born in 1984, collected "personal information related to servicemen participating in the special military operation conducted by the Russian Armed Forces, as well as members of their families" and shared it with "employees of the Ukrainian Security Service, expecting that they would be subsequently physically eliminated," the FSB said.
He did so for a monetary reward, the FSB said.
The criminal case of treason was initiated based on this fact. Investigators are establishing other similar "facts of the suspect's criminal activities."
