Kremlin has no detailed knowledge for now on Russian ice hockey player's detention in Warsaw on espionage charges

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Moscow currently has no detailed knowledge of the detention of a Russian hockey player in Warsaw on counts of espionage, but views this situation as an example of the Polish authorities' continuing Russophobic policy, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"I am sure that our embassy is looking into this case, and we will receive detailed information," Peskov said in reply to a request for comment.

"But of course, it's very difficult to work in Warsaw, considering the unhinged Russophobic position of the Polish authorities. So unfortunately we are not aware of the details," Peskov said.

Media said on Friday that a Russian player for a first division Polish ice hockey team, who has been living in Poland since October 2021, is now under arrest on counts of espionage. Polish security services suspect him of gathering information about critical infrastructure on the orders of a foreign intelligence service.
