MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - Russian Black Sea Fleet minesweepers have trained at conducting demining operations and firing artillery in the Black Sea, the Southern Military District's press service said on Friday.
"Consistent with the exercise scenario, the Georgy Kurbatov, Ivan Golubets and Kovrovets minesweepers have trained at reconnaissance and clearing mines using contact sweeps," the press service said.
The minesweepers successfully crossed the mined area and ensured safe passage for support ships, it said.
"At the next stage of the anti-mine exercise, the ships fired artillery at a mock floating mine," the press service said.
The exercise was held according to the Black Sea Fleet's combat training plan, the Southern Military District Staff said.
