Belarusian Defense Ministry concerned about intensity of NATO flights along Union State borders

MINSK. July 3 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Defense Ministry has noticed intensified flights of NATO aircraft, including the reconnaissance ones, along the borders of the Belarus and the Union State of Russia and Belarus.

"The intensity of flights of aircraft, including the reconnaissance ones, defies common sense," Belarusian Air and Defense Forces Deputy Commander for Ideological Work Anatoly Bulavko said on the CTV channel on Sunday.

There are several reasons for that, including the probing of Belarusian air defenses, the gathering of intelligence information about the military potential of Belarus, and the exploration of the airspace by NATO pilots, he said.

The monthly number of such flights has grown from 20 to 70 in recent years, and up to 30 planes are sometimes seen flying past the Belarusian border per day nowadays, Bulavko said.

"This can hardly be called normal. What's normal is flights of passenger jets," he said.
