Chongar Bridge connecting Crimea to Kherson region reopens for traffic after repairs

ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 3 (Interfax) - The Chongar Bridge on the administrative border between Crimea and the Kherson region, which was damaged in a Ukrainian attack, has reopened for traffic after repairs, Kherson regional government head Andrei Alexeyenko said on Telegram on Monday.

"The shortest and most convenient transport corridor, where a recently repaired section of the federal road is located, is again operating as usual," Alexeyenko said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the Chongar Bridge on June 22. According to preliminary information, Storm Shadow missiles were used in the attack. No one was hurt, but the road was damaged and traffic was suspended.

There are three checkpoints on the border with the Kherson region in northern Crimea, including those near Dzhankoi (via the Chongar bridge), Armyansk and Perekop. After the bridge was damaged, all cars and buses were rerouted to Armyansk, while trucks were directed to Perekop.
