Putin briefed on incident involving journalist Milashina - Peskov

MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the incident involving journalist Yelena Milashina, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding that energetic measures should be taken in relation to it.

Reporters asked Peskov on Tuesday whether the Kremlin was informed and whether it contacted the Chechen administration after the attack on the journalist. "Naturally, the president was briefed. Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova is addressing the matter," he said.

As to how the Kremlin would assess the situation, Peskov said, "Any assessments should be made by law enforcement agencies but, of course, this is a very serious attack that requires rather energetic measures."
