Russian forces strike Ukrainian artillery positions in past 24 hours - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - Russian forces have struck Ukrainian artillery positions in the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"Tactical aircraft, army aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces' contingent struck 79 Ukrainian artillery units at their firing positions, as well as troops and military hardware in 109 areas over the past day," Konashenkov said.

Ukrainian ammo and arms depots have been destroyed near Druzhkovka and Maksimovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), and a command post of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 115th Mechanized Brigade was hit near Razdolovka in the DPR, he said.

"Meanwhile, air defense intercepted six projectiles [fired by] a HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket system. Six Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been downed near Artyomovsk in the DPR, Kalinovka in the Lugansk People's Republic, Tavolzhanka in the Kharkov region, and Lyubimovka and Samoilovka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.

In total, 449 planes, 241 helicopters, 4,893 unmanned aerial vehicles, 426 air defense missile systems, 10,535 tanks and other armored vehicles, 1,134 multiple rocket launchers, 5,348 artillery systems and mortars, and 11,443 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation, he said.
