MOSCOW. July 6 (Interfax) - Russian forces are conducting strikes against Ukrainian units in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and in the Kharkov and Kherson regions, and have repelled a Ukrainian attack near Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, troops, tactical aircraft, army aviation and artillery from the western group of forces have repelled a Ukrainian army attack near Novosyolovskoye in the LPR," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.
A Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was destroyed in the vicinity of Novosyolovskoye, he said.
"Enemy units were hit in the vicinity of Novomlynsk, Petropavlovka, Timkovka and Berestovoye in the Kharkov region and Stelmakhovka in the LPR," Konashenkov said.
In that area, the Ukrainian army lost up to 40 troops, two armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks and a U.S.-made M777 artillery system in the past 24 hours, he said.
"Three command posts of the 118th Territorial Defense Brigade and the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 4th National Guard Brigade were hit near Stupochki, Vyyemka and Zvanovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed up to 130 Ukrainian troops and destroyed eight trucks and a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer over the past 24 hours, he said.
"Tactical aircraft, army aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces' contingent hit 86 artillery units at their firing positions, as well as troops and military hardware in 119 areas," Konashenkov said.
