Russian Defense Ministry reports repelling 16 Ukrainian attacks in several sectors

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled ten attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk sector, four in the Krasny Liman sector, and two in the southern Donetsk sector, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have continued unsuccessful attempts to advance in the Donetsk, Krasny Liman, and southern Donetsk sectors over the past 24 hours," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Friday.

"In the Donetsk sector, defending units of the southern group of forces acted skillfully and courageously to successfully repel ten enemy attacks near Mayorsk, Severnoye, Yagodnoye, Kleshcheyevka, Pervomaiskoye, and Vodyanoye in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said.

Four Ukrainian attacks were repelled in the Krasny Liman sector and two in the southern Donetsk sector, he said.

"In the Krasny Liman sector, the central group of forces used aircraft and artillery to strike personnel and hardware of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 21st and 67th Mechanized Brigades near Nevskoye and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR]," he said.

Four Ukrainian attacks were repelled near Novoyegorovka and Novovodyanoye in the LPR and near Yampolovka in the DPR, he said.

"The actions of two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were neutralized near Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR," he said.

"In the southern Donetsk sector, units of the eastern group of forces used artillery and heavy flamethrower systems [thermobaric rocket launchers] to repel two enemy attacks near Urozhainoye in the DPR," he said.

A Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was neutralized near Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye region, he said.

"In the Zaporozhye sector, [thanks to the] selfless and well-coordinated actions of Russian forces, a concentration of personnel and hardware of the 106th Territorial Defense Brigade was struck near Lugovskoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.

"An ammunition depot of the Ukrainian 44th Artillery Brigade was destroyed near Orekhov in the Zaporozhye region," he said.

In the Donetsk sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' losses amounted to over 420 troops killed and wounded, three tanks, seven infantry fighting vehicles, four pickup trucks, a D-20 howitzer, and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, Konashenkov said.

In the Krasny Liman sector, the Ukrainian army lost up to 95 troops, one tank, four armored fighting vehicles, four pickup trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and a D-30 howitzer, he said.

In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' losses over the past 24 hours amounted to over 200 troops, two infantry fighting vehicles, two armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, a Msta-B howitzer, and a British-made AF-90 self-propelled artillery system, Konashenkov said.

"In the Kupyansk sector, the western group of forces used tactical and army aircraft and artillery to strike enemy personnel and hardware near Krasnoye Pervoye, Sinkovka, Masyutovka, and Timkovka in the Kharkov region," Konashenkov said.

"The actions of a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group were neutralized near Novoselovskoye in the LPR," Konashenkov said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' losses in this area amounted to over 25 troops, three automobiles, a Giatsint-S and an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, a D-20 howitzer, and a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, he said.

"In the Kherson sector, up to 80 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and eleven automobiles and two Akatsiya self-propelled artillery systems were destroyed," he said.
