MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - The Turkish authorities' transfer of a number of commanders of the nationalist Azov battalion (which is banned in Russia) to Ukraine will not affect plans to create a gas hub in Turkey, the Kremlin has said.
When asked by journalists whether the project to set up a gas hub in Turkey could be frozen due to Turkey's transfer of the Azov commanders to Ukraine, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, "No, it has nothing to do with that. We intend to continue our relations with the Republic of Turkey. They are indeed multifaceted, and we will continue our mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, especially those aspects of trade and economic cooperation such as the project that was mentioned, which in fact affects the interests of a very large number of countries in the region, and even European countries."
"This is important for everyone, and that's why this work will continue, but of course, during our dialogue we expect to receive clarifications from the Turkish side on what happened, and we will take this into account in future agreements," the Kremlin spokesman added.
