Kremlin: Russian-Chinese relations have never been aimed against third countries or alliances (Part 2)

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Russian-Chinese relations are not directed against third countries but instead promote peace and stability, the Kremlin said.

Asked to comment on the final communique of the NATO summit in Vilnius, which describes more profound Russian-Chinese cooperation as running counter to the alliance's interests, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that "Such statements show a misunderstanding of the essence of Russian-Chinese relations. Our relations are not directed and have never been directed against third countries or any alliances."

"These relations in fact promote peace and stability in the region and create the wellbeing of the two countries' peoples, as well as of the peoples of numerous regions, because this produces common synergy for economic development," he said.

Commenting on the essence of NATO, Peskov said, "This is not an alliance that was devised, created, and built to ensure stability and security; it's an offensive alliance that produces instability and aggression."
