Thirty Ukrainian attacks repelled in Donetsk sector in past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Thirty Ukrainian attacks have been repelled in the Donetsk sector over the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces continued their attempted offensive in the Donetsk, southern Donetsk and Krasny Liman sectors over the past day. The courageous and professional actions of the troops, aircraft and artillery of the southern group of forces successfully repelled 30 attacks of the enemy in the Donetsk sector," Konashenkov said.

The attacks were repelled near Zolotaryovka in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), as well as Spornoye, Kleshcheyevka, Andreyevka, Sol, Severnoye, Vesyoloye, Vodyanoye, Pervomaiskoye, Krasnogorovka and Petrovskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), he said.

Another two attacks of the enemy have been repelled in the Zaporozhye region in addition to two in the Krasny Liman sector and three in the Kupyansk sector, Konashenkov said.

Ukrainian forces and hardware were hit in two areas west of Andreyevka and Kleshcheyevka in the DPR, he said.

In the Donetsk sector, "up to 335 Ukrainian troops have been killed and one tank, two armored combat vehicles, four trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and a British-made FH-70 towed howitzer have been destroyed in action," Konashenkov said.

In the southern Donetsk sector, units of the eastern group of defensive forces, backed by aircraft and artillery, repelled an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 35th Marine Brigade near Staromayorskoye in the DPR and put a stop to an exploratory enemy attack near Ugledar in the DPR, he said.

Combined strikes on Ukrainian troops and hardware were delivered near Storozhevoye and Makarovka in the DPR and Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye region. A Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was neutralized near Sladkoye in the DPR, Konashenkov said.

Russian forces repelled two Ukrainian attacks near Rabotino in the Zaporozhye region, he said.

"Army aviation and artillery hit the enemy near Marfopol, Rabotino and Lugovskoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.

"In those areas, the enemy lost over 240 troops, nine infantry vehicles, two armored personnel carriers, six armored combat vehicles, two trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and Msta-B and D-30 howitzers in the past 24 hours," he said.

"An ammo depot of the Ukrainian 33rd Mechanized Brigade was destroyed near Malaya Tokmachka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.

In the Krasny Liman sector, units from the central group of forces, aircraft, artillery and heavy flamethrowers repelled two enemy attacks involving up to one motorized infantry platoon of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 63rd and 66th Motorized Brigades each, near Torskoye in the DPR and Karmazinovka in the LPR.

A Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was neutralized near Terny in the DPR. The enemy was hit in the vicinity of Nevskoye, Chervonaya Dibrova and Kuzmino in the LPR, he said.

"More than 60 Ukrainian troops were killed and two infantry vehicles and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer were destroyed over the past day," Konashenkov said.

"In the Kupyansk sector, units from the western group of forces, tactical aircraft, army aviation and artillery repelled three enemy attacks near Novosyolovskoye in the LPR. Ukrainian troops and hardware were hit in the vicinity of Molchanovo, Novomlynsk and Ivanovka in the Kharkov region and Artyomovka in the LPR. Up to 40 Ukrainian troops were killed, and two tanks, an infantry vehicle, and two trucks were destroyed over the day," he said.
