G7 vows to develop Ukrainian defense industry, help with troop training, share intelligence - statement

VILNIUS. July 12 (Interfax) - The Group of Seven (G7) countries have declared their intention to assist with developing Ukraine's defense industry, training its troops, and intelligence sharing, the G7 said in a joint statement.

"We will each work with Ukraine on specific, bilateral, long-term security commitments and arrangements towards [...] support to further develop Ukraine's defense industrial base, training and training exercises for Ukrainian forces, [and] intelligence sharing and cooperation," the document said.

At the same time, the G7 countries said they were committed to assisting Kiev in ensuring cyber security, in particular taking measures to respond to hybrid threats.

The joint statement noted that other countries wishing to contribute to efforts to support Ukraine could join the declaration at any time.
