Investigators asking court to arrest Deputy Digital Development Minister Parshin in large-scale bribery case

MOSCOW. July 13 (Interfax) - Moscow's Basmanny District Court has registered the investigators' motion for the arrest of Russian Deputy Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Minister Maxim Parshin, who is charged with taking a large-scale bribe, the court press service told Interfax.

"The court has received the investigators' motion for Parshin's arrest until September 12, 2023," the court told the agency on Thursday.

Parshin is charged with taking a large-scale bribe, the court said.

The Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed Parshin's detention to Interfax.

"Deputy Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Minister Maxim Parshin has been detained by investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee. He is suspected of a corruption crime," Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko told the agency.

The Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Ministry told the agency it "is providing all necessary assistance to the law enforcement agencies" in connection with the investigative actions in relation to Parshin.
