Russian Pacific Fleet ships back to Vladivostok from Asia Pacific region

VLADIVOSTOK. July 14 (Interfax) -The Gromky and the Sovershenny corvettes of the Russian Pacific Fleet are back to the fleet's main base in Vladivostok after mission in the Asia Pacific region, the fleet press service said on Friday.

"The ships were welcome back at a ceremony led by Pacific Fleet Deputy Commander Vice Adm. Denis Berezovsky on the 33rd pier of the Pacific Fleet on Korabelnaya Embankment," the press service said.

The ships fulfilled every part of their mission in the Asia Pacific region, took part in joint international exercises, held a variety of drills in several zones of Southeast Asia, and called on ports of Indonesia and China.

The ships left the Pacific Fleet's main base on a long-distance voyage in mid-May. They have covered a distance of over 11,000 nautical miles since then.

Once they replenish reserves and take a brief rest, the ships will continue to fulfill their missions in accordance with the fleet's training plan.
