TASHKENT. July 14 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan will pursue and efficient domestic and foreign policy amid the turbulent situation in the world, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
"In such a complicated and dangerous situation, we should correctly determine the only right way meeting our people's interests, a way of an efficient domestic and foreign policy, and steadily put it into practice," Mirziyoyev said in his inaugural speech broadcast live on national television on Friday.
The world is seeing processes that were hard to predict, and armed conflicts in various regions seriously undermine global peace and stability, Mirziyoyev said. Such conflicts, as well as stiff competition, disrupt trade and investment flows, hamper the circulation of goods and services, and pose new threats to food and energy security, he said.
Climate change and the growing shortage in natural and water resources on a global scale are having a strong negative effect on sustainable development, he said.
Mirziyoyev's inauguration ceremony is taking place at a joint session of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of the Uzbek parliament, the Oliy Majlis, in Tashkent on Friday.
