Belarus' Defense Ministry, Wagner Group draw up cooperation roadmap

MINSK. July 14 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of Belarus has worked out a cooperation roadmap with Wagner Group, the ministry said.

"The defense ministry has received a lot of applications in the matter of a subsequent joint system for training the armed forces and PMC [private military company] Wagner fighters. We hereby inform that our ministry and the company management have worked out a short-term roadmap for training and experience sharing among the units of various armed services," the ministry said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, the ministry said the group's instructors were involved in training the national territorial defense troops in a number of military specialties. "Individuals liable for military service are mastering skills such as moving across the battlefield and tactical shooting, [and are] gaining knowledge of engineering work and tactical medicine," the ministry said.

Commenting on these exercises, the territorial-defense directorate's head of department Maxim Payevsky said that, "this is a new method of training our territorial [defense] troops. Subsequently the leadership of our armed forces will make a decision on the expediency of its use."
