ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 17 (Interfax) - One road lane on the Crimean Bridge has been partially destroyed, and the second will be examined in particular to see if reverse traffic is possible along it, Chairman of the Crimean State Council Vladimir Konstantinov said.
"One part of the bridge has been destroyed to a serious extent. The second part is currently being examined. By the end of the day, I think we'll know if it's possible to resume traffic on it, that will be very good news for us, and traffic will at least resume in the reverse direction," he said on the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.
Konstantinov also noted that the bridge's railroad section withstood the blast, and that rail traffic has resumed along it.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee said the Crimean Bridge was attacked in the early hours on Monday by two Ukrainian surface drones. The road vehicle section was damaged. A criminal case into a terrorist attack has been opened.
The movement of cars on the bridge has been suspended. Two options are available for travelers: taking a route through the new regions, or using the ferry. Railroad services resumed in the morning.
The attack on the bridge killed two residents of the Belgorod region, and a child was injured.
