MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Russian forces repelled 13 attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk sector and two in the Krasny Liman sector over the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Monday.
"Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been making unsuccessful attempts to advance in the Donetsk and Krasny Liman sectors. In the Donetsk sector, coordinated and courageous actions by the southern group of forces and air force and artillery strikes successfully repelled 13 enemy attacks near Berestovoye, Belogorovka, Kurdyumovka, Pervomaiskoye, and Maryinka of the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
Russian forces repelled two other attacks in the Krasny Liman sector, he said.
In the Donetsk sector, Russian forces "killed up to 320 Ukrainian troops and destroyed two armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, a Msta-B howitzer, two Rapira antitank guns, and a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 weapon locating radar system," Konashenkov said.
In the Krasny Liman sector, the central group of forces used air force, artillery, and thermobaric rocket launchers to strike Ukrainian Armed Forces units near Chervonopopovka of the Lugansk People's Republic and near Terny, Yampolovka, and Grigorovka of the Donetsk People's Republic, he said.
"Two enemy attacks were repelled near Chervonaya Dibrova and Karmazinovka of the Lugansk People's Republic. In addition, two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were neutralized near Novomikhailovka of the Donetsk People's Republic and Chervonaya Dibrova of the Lugansk People's Republic," he said.
"Up to 60 Ukrainian troops were killed and two armored fighting vehicles, four automobiles, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed over the past 24 hours," Konashenkov said.
In the southern Donetsk sector, units of the eastern group of forces used aircraft and artillery to strike Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and hardware near Urozhainoye and Levadnoye in the Zaporozhye region, he said.
In the Zaporozhye sector, Russian forces struck concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and hardware near Mafropol, Novoselovka, Shcherbaki, and Pyatikhatki of the Zaporozhye region, he said.
A Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group was neutralized near Charivnoye of the Zaporozhye region, Konashenkov said.
"The enemy's losses in said sectors amounted to up to 240 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two automobiles, a U.S.-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, three Msta-B howitzers, an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, and a D-30 howitzer," he said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, the western group of forces used aircraft, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems [thermobaric rocket launchers] to strike Ukrainian Armed Forces units near Novoselovskoye and Stelmakhovka of the Lugansk People's Republic and near Sinkovka and Ivanovka of the Kharkov region, Konashenkov said.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces' losses amounted to up to 35 Ukrainian troops, four armored fighting vehicles, two automobiles, a D-20 howitzer, and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system," he said.
"In the Kherson sector, up to 40 Ukrainian troops were killed and eight automobiles, a Verba multiple rocket launcher vehicle, and an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system were destroyed," Konashenkov said.
