BRUSSELS. July 17 (Interfax) - Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative jeopardizes global food security, European Council President Charles Michel said, noting that he regrets this statement.
"The Black Sea Grain Initiative has benefited millions around the globe. I regret Russia's announcement today. This will endanger food security and access of populations worldwide to grain and fertilizer supplies," Michel said on Twitter on Monday.
He also reaffirmed his support of the efforts made by the UN and its Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to continue the initiative.
