Russian Foreign Ministry expecting int'l community's appropriate reaction to Crimean Bridge attack

MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry expects the international community and relevant multilateral organizations to give an appropriate assessment of Monday's terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge.

"The Foreign Ministry of Russia resolutely condemns the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which is an exclusively civilian facility," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website.

"We expect the international community and relevant multilateral organizations to demonstrate their integrity and to give an appropriate assessment of the latest crime by the Ukrainian authorities," the ministry said.

"The damage caused to the road section of the Crimean Bridge as a result of the terrorist attack will be repaired within the shortest possible period of time," it said.

However, "if it is established that the surface drones that attacked the bridge are of foreign origin, if it is established that Western countries played a role in planning, sponsoring and carrying out this operation, it will confirm their complicity in the Kiev regime's terrorist activities," the ministry said.

The Crimean Bridge was attacked by two Ukrainian surface drones in the early hours of Monday, Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee said. The road section of the bridge was damaged. A criminal case was opened on charges of an act of terrorism.

Automobile traffic on the bridge was suspended. The authorities advised drivers to use a route via the new regions (the Donetsk People's Republic and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions). Train traffic resumed in the morning.

Two residents of the Belgorod region died in the attack on the bridge, and a child was injured.
