MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Twenty aircraft and helicopters are practicing delivering strikes on mock enemy targets during a naval aviation exercise in the Kaliningrad region, Russia's Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Monday.
"Fighter jets and bomber aircraft are practicing tactics of an air battle against mock enemy aircraft. Sukhoi Su-27, Su-24, Su-30SM and Su-30SM2 aircraft will perform a set of various combat training missions. Special attention will be given to flying tactics involving offensive and defense maneuvers at various altitudes and speeds, as well as practical bombing on ground targets," the statement said.
Mil Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters will take off and land, will fly to designated sea areas to examine the surface situation, and will carry out training attacks at a mock enemy's ground targets, it said. Kamov Ka-27 helicopters will search for a mock enemy's submarines, the fleet's press service said.
The is a scheduled exercise and involves "more than 500 troops, up to 20 planes and helicopters, as well as more than 50 pieces of special military hardware," it said.
