MOSCOW. July 18 (Interfax) - Russia is still developing measures to respond to the latest attack on the Crimean Bridge, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
Asked by journalists on Tuesday whether proposals for the president regarding a response to the act of terrorism on the Crimean Bridge and measures to enhance its security are ready, Peskov replied, "They're still being developed."
President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Russia would retaliate against the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, and the Defense Ministry was preparing proposals.
"There will definitely be a response from Russia. The Defense Ministry is preparing corresponding proposals," Putin said at the end of a meeting dealing with the attack on the Crimean Bridge on Monday.
Putin said he was also expecting additional proposals to enhance the Crimean Bridge's security, given that it had been targeted for an act of terrorism for a second time.
"Considering that a second act of terrorism has happened on the Crimean Bridge, I await specific proposals on enhancing the security of this strategic transport facility," he said.
The Russian National Antiterrorism Committee said earlier that two Ukrainian seaborne drones attacked the Crimean Bridge in the early hours of Monday. The attack damaged the bridge's road section. A criminal case into an act of terrorism was opened.
Road traffic across the bridge was suspended. The authorities recommended using a route passing through Russia's new regions (the Donetsk People's Republic and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions). Rail traffic across the bridge resumed on Tuesday morning.
The attack killed two adults and injured a teenager from the Belgorod region.
