KAZAN. July 19 (Interfax) - Officials from the Federal Security Service (FSB) office for Tatarstan have detained a man in Kazan, who is suspected of supporting an organization designated as terrorist in Russia and of planning to set fire to armored hardware, the FSB press service told Interfax on Wednesday.
"The detainee is suspected of setting up a cache with bottles of kerosene near the Kazan Higher Tank Command College and planning to set fire to armored hardware," a source familiar with the investigation's details told Interfax.
While searching the suspect's home, operatives found transformers, timers for bomb detonators, a quadcopter, noiseless clock mechanisms, and components for explosive devices, he said.
A criminal case has been opened into affiliation with a terrorist organization.
Interfax has yet to obtain official comments on the details of the planned crime.
