Russian military reports new violations in Syria's airspace by U.S.-led coalition aircraft

MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - U.S. drones have breached the deconfliction protocols in Syria ten times, and F-16 fighter jets and MQ-1C unmanned aerial vehicles violated the country's airspace nine times, the Russian military said.

"Over the past 24 hours, there were ten breaches of the December 9, 2019 deconfliction protocols by the so-called international antiterrorist coalition led by the U.S. related to flights of unmanned aerial vehicles that were not agreed with the Russian side," head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Rear Adm. Oleg Gurinov said on Wednesday.

Nine violations of Syria's airspace by four pairs of coalition F-16 fighter jets and one MQ-1C reconnaissance drone were recorded in the Al-Tanf area, which international air routes pass through, Gurinov said.

"By such actions, the coalition continues to create dangerous preconditions for air incidents and incidents involving civilian aircraft performing regular flights," he said.
