WASHINGTON. July 20 (Interfax) - The United States expanded its sanctions lists for Russia on Thursday, including 18 individuals and more than 90 organizations in them.
In particular, sanctions have been imposed against scientific establishments such as the Prokhorov General Physics Institute, the Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems, the Space Research Institute (all three part of the Russian Academy of Sciences), and the National Center of Laser Systems and Complexes.
Sanctions have been imposed on a whole series of defense industry enterprises, including NPO Kurganpribor, the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant, Tambov Gunpowder Plant, and the Kazan Gunpowder Plant.
Restrictions have also affected Russia's energy and mining sectors. The sanctions lists include Neftegazavtomatika, JSC Siberian Service Company, NPP VNIIGIS, oil and gas equipment supplier and manufacturer PKF-GazNefteMash, and the private security firm Gazprom Okhrana. Sanctions have been imposed on the company AK Microtech, which provides engineering consultancy services, and KosmosAvia, which supplies parts for commercial aviation.
