MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - An artillery live-fire exercise was conducted during ongoing Russian-Chinese naval maneuvers in the Sea of Japan, the press service for Russia's Pacific Fleet said on Friday.
"During practical measures, Russian and Chinese crews perfected their skills of navigation in various formations and held a signal exercise. Russian naval ships conducted a sea battle with a mock enemy ship, during which they fired Ak-100 and A-190 100mm artillery systems at the surface target," the press service said.
"As they practiced repelling a mock enemy air raid, the unit's ships fired artillery weapons at the simulated airborne target, using rapid-fire air defense systems," it said.
Russia's Admiral Tributs large anti-submarine ship hosted an exercise during which Russian and Chinese Navy sailors fired a large-caliber machinegun to destroy a dummy floating mine and practiced repelling an attack by a high-speed small-size target, the press service said.
A signal exercise was conducted as well, it said.
The North/Interaction-2023 Russian-Chinese naval maneuvers in the Sea of Japan began on July 20. They will run through to July 23.
