MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's statements concerning the passage of maritime vessels in the Black Sea pose a threat to civil navigation, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"The Kiev regime's unpredictable actions, and moreover, its involvement in acts of terrorism certainly pose a potential threat in this field, because the Kiev regime is absolutely unpredictable and would stoop to anything. Therefore, of course, such statements pose a direct danger," Peskov told journalists on Friday.
Peskov made these remarks in reply to a request for comments on the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's statement warning that Kiev would see vessels moving toward Russian Black Sea ports as carrying military cargo and banning navigation in the northeastern part of the Black Sea and in the Kerch Strait area.
Asked whether Russia would change the routes of its vessels in the Black Sea in view of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's statement, Peskov replied, "Certainly, the situation is being analyzed, and our responsible agencies will work out proper recommendations so as to minimize dangers."
Asked whether the Kremlin sees risks for exports of Russian oil and other goods via the Black Sea, Peskov said, "The situation requires a profound analysis by our special agencies and the agencies related to this matter, after which conclusions could be made and recommendations formulated."
