MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax) - A former Donbass militia leader, Igor Girkin (Strelkov), could have been detained by law enforcement agencies, his wife Miroslava Reginskaya said on Friday.
"Representatives of the Investigative Committee arrived at our apartment at around 11:30 a.m. today. I wasn't home at the time. According to what the concierge has said, shortly after that they led my husband out of the building and took him in an unknown direction," Reginskaya said on Girkin's Telegram channel.
Girkin's detention is related to an extremism case, she said.
"I don't know my husband's whereabouts. I haven't heard anything from him," she said.
Girkin's lawyer Alexander Molokhov, in turn, told Interfax that law enforcers took his client with them following a search at his Moscow apartment. The lawyer said he does not know where Girkin is now.
Interfax does not yet have investigative agencies' comment on this situation.
