Moscow to respond to Moldova's decision to cut Russian embassy staff in Chisinau - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - Moldova's decision to reduce the staff of Russia's embassy in Chisinau will not be left without Moscow's response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"We regard this as unjustified, unfriendly moves that will not go unanswered," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"It is another step by the Chisinau regime to ruin bilateral relations," she said.

"Russia does not interfere in other states' internal affairs. We want to develop friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Moldova. I am confident that Moldovan citizens appreciate it, know it and reject any anti-Russian initiatives of the authorities," Zakharova said.

Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu earlier announced plans to limit the number of Russian diplomats accredited in Chisinau.
