ST. PETERSBURG. July 27 (Interfax) - Roscosmos State Corporation CEO Yury Borisov believes that it is still too early to discuss a project to build a cosmodrome in Africa by Roscosmos enterprises.
"Roscosmos has been developing cooperation with countries of the African region in various fields of space exploration. It is premature to discuss the construction of a cosmodrome in the African region before the sides sign the relevant agreements of intent," Borisov told reporters on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa forum on Thursday when asked about a site for a cosmodrome in Africa that Roscosmos will help build.
On June 30, Borisov said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Roscosmos also discussed the construction of multi-satellite constellations and launch services with certain African countries.
"There's a keen interest in our proposals, and I hope our colleagues and we would be able to fill the space program of a forum to be held in St. Petersburg with tangible projects," Borisov said then.
