Purchased Russian military hardware helped Uganda stabilize domestic situation - President Museveni

ST. PETERSBURG. July 27 (Interfax) - Substantial quantities of military equipment bought from Russia have helped stabilize the situation in Uganda, its President Yoweri Museveni said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

Uganda is an oasis of stability on the continent, Museveni said.

He suggested that Russia take part in a satellite program for Uganda, which could send specialists to be trained in Russia and allow it to eventually build its own satellite.

This would solve a whole host of problems related to the environment, security and geological exploration, Museveni said.
