Russian troops advance into Ukrainian defenses near Sergeyevka, Zhitlovka - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - The Russian military said that it has successfully continued its advance into Ukrainian forces' defenses at two locations in the Krasny Liman sector.

"The assault brigades of the 2nd Army's 15th Motorized Brigade continued to develop their success in the Svatovo sector, and took over several Ukrainian strong points near Sergeyevka in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR]. They advanced 1.5 kilometers into the enemy's defenses," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told a briefing on Friday.

"The Shtorm units of the 20th Army's 252nd and the 752nd Motorized Regiments took advantage of the results of strikes to attack the enemy and advance three kilometers into their defenses west of Zhitlovka in the LPR," he said.

Strikes were made against Ukrainian hardware and personnel near Torskoye and Yampolovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Novovodyanoye, Chervonaya Dibrova and Kremennaya in the LPR, Konashenkov said.

Seven attacks by the assault units of Ukraine's 53rd Mechanized, 59th Motorized Infantry and 81st Air Mobile Brigades were repelled in the Donetsk sector near Belogorovka, Zaitsevo, Pervomaiskoye, and Vodyanoye in the DPR, he said.
