Around one-third of Russians believe in possibility of friendship with West, over 60% speak about mutual mistrust - VCIOM poll

MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - About one-third of Russians (32%) believe Russia and the West can have friendly relations, according to a poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM).

According to the results of the poll published on the VCIOM website, 53% of the respondents aged 18-24 think so.

Sixty-three percent of the respondents said they are certain relations between Russia and the West will always be based on mutual mistrust.

Another five percent of the respondents were undecided about how these relations could develop, the sociologists said.

The nationwide poll was conducted by phone on July 16, 2023. It surveys 1,600 respondents aged 18 and older.
