BAKU. July 31 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan is free to make any decision regarding the Lachin road it deems necessary, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
"You know that the Lachin road is the territory of Azerbaijan. So, Azerbaijan takes any measures it deems necessary, that is its sovereign right," Fidan said at a press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Ankara on Monday.
Medical transit is possible via the Lachin road, he said.
"Other routes have been assigned for comprehensive cargo transportation. When we look at these assessments, we realize that such criticism of Azerbaijan is unfounded," Fidan said.
The path to regional stability runs through a comprehensive peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he said.
"The opening of the Zangezur corridor has great significance for that," Fidan said.
