MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has reported repelling 20 attacks in the Donetsk, southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kupyansk, and Krasny Liman sectors over the past 24 hours.
"Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have continued unsuccessful offensive attempts in the Donetsk, southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kupyansk, and Krasny Liman sectors. In the Donetsk sector, well-coordinated actions by defending units of the southern group of forces closely interacting with air force and artillery units successfully repelled 12 enemy attacks near Berestovoye, Spornoye, Severnoye, Staromikhailovka, Maryinka, and Krasnogorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
The rest of the attacks were repelled in the southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kupyansk, and Krasny Liman sectors, he said.
Russian units struck Ukrainian forces near Chasov Yar, Belaya Gora, Krasnogorovka, Kurdyumovka, and Dzerzhinsk in the DPR, Konashenkov said.
An ammunition depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Liman tactical group was destroyed near Slavyansk in the DPR, he said.
"The enemy's losses amounted to up to 295 troops, two tanks, three armored fighting vehicles, four pickup trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, two D-20 howitzers, and one D-30 howitzer," Konashenkov said.
In the southern Donetsk sector, units of the eastern group of forces, combined with airstrikes, artillery strikes, and attacks with thermobaric rocket launchers, successfully repelled a Ukrainian attack near Urozhainoye in the DPR, he said.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces' losses in this sector included over 210 troops, three armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, and a Bogdana self-propelled wheeled howitzer," he said.
"In the Zaporozhye sector, intensive operations by Russian units, airstrikes, and artillery strikes repelled four enemy attacks near Rabotino and Pyatikhatki in the Zaporozhye region. An ammunition depot of the Ukrainian National Guard's 15th Brigade was also destroyed near Malaya Tokmachka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
"The enemy's losses amounted to over 220 troops, one tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, and two automobiles," he said.
