Twelve HIMARS rockets intercepted over past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Russian forces have intercepted 12 rockets fired by Ukrainian HIMARS multiple rocket launchers over the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"Air defense systems have intercepted 12 rockets [fired by] HIMARS multiple rocket launchers over the past 24 hours," Konashenkov said at a briefing on Wednesday.

The command post of the Ukrainian National Guard's 15th Brigade was hit in the Zaporozhye region, he said.

"The ammunition and fuel depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 60th Mechanized Brigade were destroyed in the vicinity of Ogurtsovo in the Kharkov region and Druzhkovka in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said.

Twenty-eight Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, as well as in the Lugansk People's Republic and the DPR, Konashenkov said.

Tactical and army aviation, missile forces and artillery have struck 96 Ukrainian artillery units at their firing positions, as well as troops and military hardware in 118 areas over the past 24 hours, he said.

"In total, 458 combat aircraft, 245 helicopters, 5,430 unmanned aerial vehicles, 427 air defense missile systems, 1,084 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,142 multiple rocket launcher vehicles, 5,719 field artillery guns and mortars, and 12,020 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation," Konashenkov said.
