YEREVAN. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell discussed regional security and the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh during a phone call on Wednesday.
"Ararat Mirzoyan and Josep Borrell exchanged views on regional security. They also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, which has been deteriorating on a daily basis because of Azerbaijan's unlawful blocking of the Lachin corridor," the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service said.
"Mirzoyan reiterated the imperative to immediately stop the blockade of the Lachin corridor in line with the rulings of the UN International Court of Justice dated February 22 and July 6, and stressed the urgent need to deliver food, medications and other essential items to Nagorno-Karabakh," the press service said.

"The foreign minister assessed the abduction by Azerbaijan's border services of Vagif Khachatryan, who was being transported from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia for medical purposes, as a grave violation of international humanitarian law. The Armenian foreign minister reaffirmed the Armenian side's position regarding the importance of resolving the issues of the Nagorno-Karabakh people's rights and security in line with an international mechanism," the press service said.
