MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Russia is setting a quota on the number of personnel at the Romanian diplomatic and consular institutions in the country as a response measure, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Romanian Charge d'Affaires a.i. Cosmin Constantin Ionita was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on August 3, it said.
"He was served with a ministerial note on setting quotas on the number of personnel at the Romanian diplomatic and consular institutions as symmetric response measures to the restrictions concerning the Russian embassy in Bucharest and the Russian consulate general in Constanta," the ministry said in a statement published on its website.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reserves the right to resort to extra response measures "commensurate with the situation that has resulted from Bucharest's actions," it said.
Romania demanded on June 8 that the personnel of the Russian embassy in Bucharest be cut by 51 people.
