WASHINGTON. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Washington and Kiev on Thursday launched negotiations on long-term security commitments, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement.
"Our bilateral security commitments will focus on ensuring Ukraine has a sustainable force capable of defending Ukraine now," it said.
Representatives from the Department of State, the Department of Defense and the National Security Council and their Ukrainian counterparts attended the talks, which began on Thursday, it said.
These discussions take place as part of the G7 Joint Declaration of Support to Ukraine, the Department of State said.
