About 40% of Russians call special military operation main event of last week - poll

MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Over a third of Russians, or 38%, describe the special military operation as the most significant event of the past week, the Public Opinion Foundation said in a statement on its website on Friday.

Such answers are explained with the need to provide national security and support for special operation participants, the pollster said.

Other most significant events of the week named by respondents are the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg and cleanup of the aftermath of fires and flashfloods in a number of Russian regions.

The Public Opinion Foundation polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and up in 104 populated localities in 53 regions of Russia on July 28-30.
