Rostec developing new radars to identify drones - Chemezov

MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - High Precision Systems, a Rostec affiliate, is developing a system to more effectively identify and intercept drones, Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov said.

"Our High Precision Systems holding is working to build an airspace control system. We have created small radars that can detect small and low-speed targets, which is what drones essentially are. Because current radars are not always capable of detecting these targets, as they're low-flying and radars are designed to intercept high-flying ones, like planes, missiles, and so on," Chemezov said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

He also mentioned Rostec's BAS-200 helicopter-type drone capable of carrying a 50-kilo payload, which could be used in the special military operation zone.

"Of course, we'll also use this helicopter in the special military operation. We're currently conducting tests, and I think it could also demonstrate good performance," he said.
