MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a phone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The ministers discussed bilateral and international issues, as well as some regional issues including the Ukraine crisis, it said.
"The sides highly appreciated the progressive development of Russian-Chinese relations, which demonstrate stability and positive dynamics in conditions of general geopolitical instability around the world. They paid special attention to bilateral issues concerning the implementation of agreements reached at the highest political level," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website.
The ministers also discussed a number of vital international issues, noting "the common non-acceptance of the confrontational policies of the Western bloc towards Russia and China [and] attempts to deter their development through sanctions and other illegitimate methods," and also gave "a positive assessment of the constructive dialogue and the high level of interaction between Moscow and Beijing in the United Nations, BRICS, the SCO, the G20, and other international agencies."
"The sides addressed some vital regional issues, including the Ukraine crisis," the statement said.
"The contact between the foreign ministers of Russia and China reaffirmed the unity and broad closeness of approaches between Moscow and Beijing to peace affairs," the statement said.
"The readiness to further maintain close foreign policy coordination was reaffirmed," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
