MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Russian Navy Commander Nikolai Yevmenov has inspected the organization of combat training for ships, as well as the progress in building military infrastructure during his working trip to the Baltic Fleet, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"He inspected the training of surface ships and support vessels for performing missions in sea and ocean areas, and the progress of building a number of military facilities of the Baltic Fleet's comprehensive basing infrastructure," the ministry said in a statement.
Yevmenov checked the fleet command's activities to arrange combat training sessions in the summer training period, the ministry said.
Yevmenov reviewed the progress in performing missions by the Navy's forces in line with the scenario of the Ocean Shield 2023 naval exercise, it said.
"The Navy commander also inspected the readiness of the Kaliningrad branch of the Nakhimov Naval School and the Baltic Higher Naval Institute for the new academic year," the ministry said.
The Ocean Shield 2023 exercise began in the Baltic Sea on August 2, the ministry said. Over 30 naval ships and boats, as well as about 6,000 military personnel are taking part in the exercise.
