MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Bastion coastal missile systems have practiced striking a mock enemy's naval targets in the Gulf of Finland in the Leningrad region, Russia's Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Monday.
"Bastion missile systems of the Baltic Fleet practiced strikes upon naval targets by performing electronic missile launches," the statement said.
The exercise was planned in advance, and its participants used a battalion of Bastion systems and naval and aerial reconnaissance systems of the Leningrad Naval Base, it said.
The Bastion is designed to protect coasts running for over 600 kilometers and to intercept surface ships of various classes and types amid intensive electronic countermeasures and counter-fire. A load of one Bastion system may include up to 36 Oniks missiles.
