Romania supplies off-road vehicles, helmets, body armor to Moldovan army

CHISINAU. Aug 8 (Interfax) - The Romanian government has supplied off-road vehicles, helmets and body armor as technical assistance to the Moldovan Defense Ministry during an official visit of Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar to Chisinau, the ministry's press service told Interfax.

"Romania has been and remains one of the staunchest supporters of Moldova, and Romanian friends have repeatedly proven their commitment to more intensive cooperation in security and defense," Moldovan Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii said.

Commenting on the supplied gear and hardware, Nosatii said, "This kind of support has paramount importance in strengthening national defense capacity."

The Moldovan Defense Ministry's intention to join the South Eastern Europe Defense Ministerial (SEDM), a platform for military and political dialogue between the defense ministers of Southeast European countries, was a separate item on the agenda. Romania has chaired the SEDM since July 1, 2023.

"The defense ministers discussed partnership within the joint inter-ministerial commission, as well as cooperation in strategic communications, countering fake information, enhancing cybersecurity, and personnel training," the press service said.
