Russian Defense Ministry reports preemptive strikes on four Ukrainian brigades in Zaporozhye region

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has reported delivering preemptive air and artillery strikes on units of four Ukrainian brigades in the Zaporozhye region.

"In the Zaporozhye sector, intensive preemptive actions by Russian units, as well as air and artillery strikes, hit units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 44th Artillery Brigade and the 46th, 65th, and 118th Mechanized Brigades near Zagornoye, Orekhov, Malaya Tokmachka, and Novoselovka in the Zaporozhye region," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian army's losses in this sector over the past 24 hours amounted to up to 110 troops, one tank, five armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, a powerful Pion self-propelled artillery system, a Msta-B howitzer, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, a UK-made FH-70 howitzer, and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, he said.

"In the Kherson sector, the enemy's losses from gunfire included up to 50 troops, two automobiles, and three D-20 howitzers," Konashenkov said.
