MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled Ukrainian attacks in the Donetsk, southern Donetsk and Krasny Liman sectors in the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the Donetsk sector, units from the southern group of forces, working closely with aircraft and artillery, repelled 18 attacks by strike teams of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 17th Tank Brigade, the 23rd and 60th Mechanized Brigades, the 5th Assault Brigade, and the 80th Air Assault Brigade near Artyomovsk, Kleshcheyevka and Zaitsevo in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Concentrations of troops and hardware of the Ukrainian 28th and 54th Mechanized Brigades were hit near Kurdyumovka and Seversk in the DPR," Konashenkov said.
In that area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 210 troops, one tank, four infantry vehicles, six pickup trucks and three D-30 howitzers, he said.
Russian forces have also repelled six Ukrainian attacks in the southern Donetsk and Krasny Liman sectors, Konashenkov said.
"In the southern Donetsk sector, active operations by units from the eastern group of forces, airstrikes, and artillery fire repelled three attacks by strike teams of the Ukrainian 72nd Mechanized Brigade and the 37th Marine Brigade near Nikolskoye and Urozhainoye in the DPR," he said.
"Tactical aircraft and army aviation hit concentrations of troops and hardware of the 31st Mechanized Brigade and the 110th and 128th Territorial Defense Brigades near Staromayorskoye in the DPR and Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
Ukrainian forces lost up to 125 troops, eight armored combat vehicles and two D-30 howitzers, he said.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, the combined efforts of units from the central group of forces, airstrikes, and strikes by artillery and heavy flamethrowers repelled three attacks by strike teams of the Ukrainian 68th Infantry Brigade and the 21st and 67th Mechanized Brigades near Novoyegorovka and Zhitlovka in the Lugansk People's Republic [LPR] and Terny in the DPR," Konashenkov said.
Combined strikes were delivered against troops and hardware of the Ukrainian 44th, 63rd and 66th Mechanized Brigades and the 1st Special Ops. Brigade near Novovodyanoye, Chervonopopovka and Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR and Krasny Liman in the DPR, he said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 80 troops, two armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, two trucks, a Grad multiple rocket launcher, and a D-20 howitzer in those areas, Konashenkov said.
